FurNote replaces that error-prone mental model with something fundamentally better: a conversational AI that listens to how you naturally describe your cat, and automatically organizes it into one structured record.
There are no forms to fill. No checkboxes to tick. No data entry screens. You open the app and type — or speak — the way you'd describe your cat's day, a new concern, a feeding change, or a growth milestone to a trusted friend. FurNote extracts what matters, asks smart follow-up questions, and builds a record that grows more useful and more complete the longer you use it.

Most pet apps start with the assumption that owners will diligently log data by hand. They won't — and that's not a failure of willpower, it's a failure of product design. Life is busy, cats are unpredictable, and no one wants to stop in the middle of real life to fill out forms. FurNote starts from the opposite assumption: you'll talk about your cat, because that's what you do naturally, and the app should do the organizing for you.

AI Chat
FurNote's Chat tab is the center of everything. Instead of navigating menus and filling in fields, you simply describe what's happening with your cat. The AI understands context, asks clarifying questions, and automatically surfaces the medically relevant details from what you've said.
Every AI message uses two typographic signals: regular text for general information, and blue bold text for breed-specific insights and clinical alerts. When you see blue, FurNote is drawing on your cat's specific breed profile — not generic information that applies to any cat.

Low-confidence items surface as inline confirmation cards for you to approve, edit, or dismiss.
This confidence distinction matters enormously in practice. An AI that saves everything it detects produces a noisy, unreliable archive. An AI that requires confirmation for everything creates friction that breaks the conversational flow. FurNote's confidence model threads the needle: the health record stays accurate because you only ever see data that might actually be wrong.

A Maine Coon and a Siamese can exhibit the same symptom and require completely different clinical responses. FurNote's breed database covers all 62 recognized cat breeds, each with its own health risk profile, breed-specific predispositions, common conditions, life stage ranges, and tailored care guidelines.
When you tell FurNote that Loki is a Napoleon, every subsequent response is calibrated for that breed: awareness of spinal and joint health due to their short legs, weight management to prevent excess joint stress, skeletal development monitoring during kittenhood, and polycystic kidney disease screening that breed-specialist veterinarians recommend for Napoleons. This is not a generic database — it's a breed-specific lens applied to every single conversation.
Health Reminders
FurNote's reminder system is built on four Morandi-toned categories, each with its own scheduling logic, smart recurrence patterns, and the ability to attach notes or scanned documents directly to any reminder event.
Track your cat's complete vaccination schedule — core and non-core vaccines, initial series and annual boosters. FurNote knows the recommended timing for every breed and every life stage, so the schedule is already correct when you first add your cat.
Internal and external parasite prevention on a consistent schedule. FurNote tracks product type, dosing weight range, and full administration history — and alerts you when the interval expires so you never accidentally skip a dose.
Annual and biannual vet visits, dental cleanings, blood panels, and specialist consultations — all tracked together. FurNote adjusts the recommended frequency based on your cat's age and breed-specific risk level without you needing to know the guidelines.
For everything else: daily medication dosing, ongoing supplements, grooming appointments, prescription refills, or the follow-up your vet asked you to schedule in three weeks. Custom reminders support any recurrence pattern you need.

After every vet visit, you leave with paperwork. Discharge summaries, prescription labels, bloodwork printouts, vaccination certificates, specialist reports — all of them contain valuable health data that almost never makes it into any organized record. It sits in a drawer, or a folder, or a photo album, until you can't find it when you need it.
FurNote's medical document scanner changes this completely. Point your camera at any document, or import a PDF from Files, Mail, or Messages, and FurNote's AI extracts the structured data automatically — diagnosis, prescribed medications and their dosing instructions, test results, costs, and any next-visit recommendations your vet included. The complete original document is also stored as a searchable archive entry.

The Archive tab is the living record of everything FurNote has learned about your cat over time. It's organized into four views — Profile, Timeline, Weight, and Documents — each designed for a different way of reviewing your cat's history, routines, and care.
The profile card shows essential stats at a glance: breed, age, weight, life stage, and key care context. The timeline shows every event in reverse chronological order — behavior changes, symptoms, feeding notes, vet visits, medications, vaccinations, weight checks — with a search and filter bar that makes it effortless to find anything in seconds, even as months of history build up.
The weight chart renders a smooth SVG curve of every weight measurement, with breed-appropriate healthy range shading. For a Napoleon, the chart understands the expected adult weight range and flags measurements that fall outside it. The documents view is a searchable gallery of every scanned care document, from medical records to feeding notes and other reference material, with AI-extracted metadata making full-text search possible even across handwritten notes.

From the daily kibble to the monthly flea treatment, every product your cat consumes or uses has a cost, a schedule, and a finite quantity. FurNote's inventory tracker lets you log current stock levels, set low-stock alerts, and maintain a searchable record of every product you've ever used — useful both for reordering and for medical consultations where knowing exactly what your cat eats matters.
The product database covers 9 categories and more than 457 distinct products from 133+ brands — the biggest names in premium cat food, functional supplements, prescription medications, clumping litter, and grooming care. When you find a product you use, you select it, log your current quantity, and FurNote calculates estimated days remaining based on your cat's consumption rate. When you're running low, you get a notification before you actually run out.

Weekly Reports
Every Sunday, FurNote generates a personalized Weekly Health Report — not a single number, but a comprehensive analysis that synthesizes every conversation, every symptom you mentioned, every reminder you completed, and every data point from the week into a narrative your vet would actually find useful.
The report combines what you told FurNote with what your connected devices observed. Litter box frequency from LitterSense™, feeding patterns from FeedSmart™, activity levels from WatchCat* — all woven together with your chat history and health records to paint a complete picture of how your cat is really doing, not just how they seemed during the 10 minutes you were paying attention.
*Hardware integration is currently in development. Reports today are based on conversation data, logged symptoms, reminders, and health records. Hardware data will enrich reports automatically once devices are available.
When something changes — appetite dipping, litter visits increasing, a medication reminder missed three days in a row — the report flags it with context, not just an alert. It explains what changed, why it might matter for your cat's breed and age, and what you should consider doing about it. When everything looks good, it tells you that too, with specific reasons why.
Multi-Cat Households
Multi-cat households face a challenge that single-cat apps don't address: when one cat sneezes, which one? When you need to know the vaccination status for a vet appointment tomorrow, whose record opens? When you're thinking about the food budget, are you looking at Loki's allocation or Thor's? FurNote handles all of this without any additional complexity — each cat gets a complete, entirely separate profile, and switching takes one tap.
The critical design principle for multi-cat is full isolation. Loki's health record and Thor's health record are completely separate data structures. Their conversations are separate. Their reminders never overlap. Their inventory allocations are independent. Their weekly reports are generated individually with breed-specific parameters for each. When you're talking to FurNote about Loki, every response is calibrated to Loki — not some average of your two cats.

Privacy & Security
FurNote was built privacy-first. All your data is stored on your device by default, with bank-level encryption protecting every AI request — your data is always encrypted and stays in your control.
All health records, conversation history, archived documents, and reminder data are stored directly on your iPhone, tied to your FurNote account and protected with encryption. Your cat's medical history stays under your control, with backup and sync settings managed by you.
This matters most when your phone has no connectivity: FurNote's archive, reminders, and weekly reports work entirely offline. The AI chat requires network access, but everything already stored is always available without internet.
FurNote's AI calls route through Autorums' own secure gateway. Every request is cryptographically signed before it leaves your device — your data is always encrypted in transit. Even if network traffic were intercepted, there is nothing useful to extract.
Each AI session uses a short-lived secure credential that expires automatically. Sessions refresh silently in the background — from your perspective, the app simply keeps working with no login prompts or interruptions.
If you choose to enable cloud backup (off by default), FurNote encrypts your data with a key derived from your device's Secure Enclave before it leaves your iPhone. The backup service stores only ciphertext. Autorums cannot decrypt or read your data — ever.
Backup is optional and requires explicit opt-in. When enabled, it allows complete health record restoration on a new device. The encryption key is device-bound; migration requires re-authentication and explicit key handoff — there are no server-side copies.
FurNote contains no advertising SDK of any kind. No cross-app behavioral tracking. No data broker relationships. The only analytics collected are anonymized crash reports and aggregate feature usage counts — no individual identification, no session recording, no health data leaves the device for analytics.
FurNote pins the TLS certificate of the LumiGate gateway. Any MITM attempt — even using a certificate from a trusted certificate authority — will cause the connection to fail silently. This prevents traffic analysis on public networks, enterprise proxies, or compromised routers.
LumiGate enforces per-project rate limits and automatic suspension on traffic spikes 5x above the rolling baseline. Budget caps prevent runaway API costs even in worst-case credential compromise scenarios. All limits are tuned for normal consumer usage patterns.
All locally stored data is removed with the app. If cloud backup was enabled, your encrypted backup remains in iCloud until you delete it from iCloud settings. Your FurNote account can be managed separately, and any cloud-stored backup data remains under your control.
AI Architecture
FurNote's AI layer is a multi-model system that routes each query to the most appropriate model based on task complexity, latency requirements, and cost — all behind a single conversational interface you never need to configure or manage.
Simple extraction tasks use faster, cheaper models. Complex multi-turn medical reasoning routes to frontier models. The router decides in milliseconds, invisible to the user.
Conversation history is summarized and compressed before each request to stay within model context limits while preserving semantic meaning. Long conversations don't lose early context.
Every AI request includes your cat's full breed profile as system context. Breed health data is injected at the prompt level — not retrieved via RAG with retrieval latency.
All AI traffic routes through LumiGate — not directly to model providers. This enables token lifecycle management, rate limiting, cost controls, and hot model swaps without app updates.
A dedicated lightweight model handles health data extraction from text. Faster and cheaper than a frontier model for this structured task, with outputs validated against a medical entity schema before acceptance.
AI responses stream token-by-token to the chat interface. You see the answer forming in real time, which eliminates perceived wait and makes the experience feel genuinely conversational rather than transactional.
When a primary model is unavailable or degraded, LumiGate automatically routes to the next best model in the configured fallback chain — maintaining continuity without any user action. The active model cycles in the display above, reflecting the system's awareness of all configured models at all times.

The entire interface is built with SwiftUI. This means FurNote automatically supports Dynamic Type for accessibility, Dark Mode, and will benefit from future iOS improvements without additional development work. There are no legacy UIKit compromises in the view layer.
All your data is saved directly on your iPhone using Apple's own storage framework — typed, consistent, and built to last. This means fewer crashes and a health record that stays reliable even across complex multi-cat scenarios.
All encryption — from securing AI requests to protecting backed-up data — is handled using Apple's own security frameworks built into iOS. No third-party security libraries means no external weaknesses in the privacy-critical path.
Voice input uses Apple's native Speech framework for on-device transcription where possible, with cloud fallback for complex utterances. Audio capture and transcription feedback are handled through system frameworks — no third-party audio libraries needed.

We built FurNote because we kept seeing the same gap: cat owners who cared deeply, spent real money on good food and good care, and still had to rely on memory to piece everything together in daily life. Senior cats (10+ years) are FurNote's highest-value use case. Older cats need more frequent monitoring, more medications, more frequent vet contact, and more complex health histories to track. FurNote's Senior life stage profile adjusts the AI's guidance to reflect the specific concerns of aging — organ function monitoring, cognitive changes, pain management, and the more frequent bloodwork and checkup schedule that senior care requires.
FurNote's AI can discuss general feline nutritional principles, help you compare foods based on the macronutrient data in the product database, and flag dietary changes that may be relevant to health events in the archive. It won't prescribe a specific diet, but it can tell you what a vet would likely consider when a cat with a history of urinary issues asks about food options.
FurNote is iOS-native and built around iOS platform capabilities — including voice input, stored on your phone, secure on-device cryptography, and deep system integrations — that don't have direct Android equivalents. An Android version would require a ground-up rebuild. It's on the long-term roadmap but not currently in active development. A web companion for archive viewing is being considered for the Shared Family Access feature.
The AI can understand and respond in English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. You can switch languages mid-conversation and the AI will follow. The app interface is available in all three languages — switch from the language selector in Settings or from the nav. Health data extracted from conversations is stored in a language-agnostic structured format, so the archive works regardless of which language you were using when you logged the data.
LumiGate is Autorums' own secure AI gateway — a private proxy that sits between FurNote and AI providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. It handles secure session management, rate limiting, advanced AI routing, cost controls, and fallback logic. Using our own gateway means we control the entire request path, can swap AI models without app updates, and never expose credentials to third-party aggregators.
The scoring model is parameterized by breed and life stage. A Napoleon that sleeps 18 hours a day is not penalized for low activity — that's normal for the breed. A Maine Coon that's suddenly sleeping 18 hours a day when they normally sleep 14 would see a score impact. The breed profile defines the expected baseline for each dimension, and deviations from that baseline — not from a universal average — drive the score.

Allow a second person — a partner, a family member, a pet-sitter — to access the same cat's health record without sharing your device. The shared access model uses a secure invitation system: the primary owner generates a time-limited invite, the secondary user accepts it on their device, and they receive read access plus the ability to log events and mark reminders complete. The primary owner retains full control and can revoke access at any time.
A companion mode where veterinary practices can receive a structured health summary from FurNote before an appointment — not replacing their practice management system, but supplementing it with the owner's perspective and self-reported history.
